Okay, we have successfully made the back half of the dollhouse and that got us warmed up and comfortable building with cardboard. Now we make the front half which is a little more complex but still easy.
|
We will break this down into two parts. In this first part we build the structure of the front. And then we will move on to add the various details like the windows, the beams, and the door.
Let's take a look at the blueprint. This shows every part you need and the measurements. With the exception of the roof. That is on the first sheet of the template. We make a second roof now that is exactly the same as the first roof.
Now do the same thing that you did in the back half of the dollhouse. Use the measurements to make these parts out of corrugated cardboard. Then make them all again with the corrugations going the other way. And glue the two pieces together so you have doubled cardboard pieces. You will end up with 13 pieces from this sheet. And a 14th piece (roof piece) from page 1 of the template.
Let's build itYou have created a doubled bottom and two doubled sides. Glue those sides to the bottom. And just as we did with the back half of the dollhouse do not glue the sides Down onto the top surface of the bottom piece. Glue them to the sides of the bottom piece. This picture from what we did earlier shows this.
Next glue the first front piece on. This piece does go directly onto the top surface of the bottom piece.
Next glue on the roof. It should fit very well from top point of roof down to the front wall we just added. If it doesn't you can trim it. And from side to side it overhangs the building by one inch on each side.
Next glue the larger front piece on.
Next glue on the two sides of the doorway.
