In this part of the tutorial we make the katanas.

Now cut all those pieces out. Let's do one of the swords. You simply repeat to make the second.

Will's Tips on Cutting Foam board: Don't try to cut all the way through it in one swipe. Use a really sharp blade and make three passes. the first pass just cuts the top layer of paper. Second pass cuts the foam and the third pass cuts through the bottom layer of foam.

Glue together two blades - one right on top of the other. I used hot glue gun.

Next glue together two tsuba (guards) one right on top of the other.

Then cut out the slot.

Next slide the tsuba over the end of the sword.

And glue it about ten inches from the handle end.

Now repeat the whole process and make the second katana.

If you have sand paper you can sand the edges of the katanas. This will make them look crisper and more like metal. And you can even do a little bit of shaping with the sand paper to get the shape very katana-like.
