In this part of the tutorial we build the sword. |
In the previous step we glued together the two blade parts.
Then glue the guard onto the sword. Glue one on this side then flip the sword over and glue one on the other side.
Next glue together the four pieces that make up the pommel.
Then glue it onto the sword.
When you glue together pieces in a stack like we did for this sword you end up with some rough and unevenly matched edges. use your knife to trim the edges so everything is nice and neat.
And sand all the edges.
Let's add a little bit of detail before we paint it. We are going to draw on two collars. Each is about 3/8 of an inch wide. Use a ruler to get them nice and straight. And press down firmly with the pencil, go over the lines several times. We want more than just pencil lines, we want indents in the foamboard. It will give the handle a more 3d look.
