Make Foam Armor Knight's Cuisses

Cuisses are the upper legs (thighs). And this is another tutorial in a series of foam armor projects. This is the last piece in the series. I already have tutorials on the helmet, hands, forearms, shoulders, biceps, shins and feet. You can check all those tutorials out right here: Foam Armor

The Template for the Cuisses is right here

Will has a youtube channel with over 700 videos on projects you can make. Check it out right here

Foam armor cuisses

A knights armor with cuisses

These Cuisses are very easy to make and they look good. I give you the template which makes it very easy for you. And I show you a way to paint it so they look like metal. And these are pretty large which is good. It means that you can make them and cut them down to the size of your legs very easily.

The picture at left shows a complete set of knights armor and it points out what the cuisses are.

Print up the template

Print up the template and cut out the six pieces.

Assemble template pieces

Tape those pieces together like this to make the complete template.

Tace onto foamboard

Place it onto posterboard and trace it. Do this twice. Trace two of them.

Cut out the pieces

Cut those pieces out. They are a left thigh and a right thigh.

Curve them

Curve them into a tube like this and try them on. You want a good loose fit on your thigh. Your leg is probably not the same size as mine so you can trim it down if need be.

Flip over

Flip one over. This is so they are mirrored. They will be different and one is a left and one is a right.
