Greaves are the lower legs (shins). And this is another tutorial in a series of foam armor projects. This is almost the last piece in the series. I already have tutorials on the helmet, hands, forearms, shoulders, biceps and feet. You can check all those tutorials out right here: Foam Armor The Template for the Greaves is right here Will has a youtube channel with over 1000 videos on projects you can make. This next picture shows a suit of armor and points out the greaves. These greaves are pretty easy to make and they look good. I give you the template which makes it very easy for you. And I show you a way to paint it so they look like metal. And these are pretty large which is good. It means that you can make them and cut them down to the size of your legs very easily. Print up the template and cut out the five pieces.
Tape the template pieces together like this. You have the large piece for front of legs. That is the 1, 2 and 3. And tape together the smaller piece for the back of legs. That is the 4 and 5. Place these templates onto cereal box cardboard and trace them. Make two of each piece. This is what you end up with. This is the front and back of one leg. Make another set like this so you have a greave for each leg. Cereal boxes have crease folds in them. Tape over them. This will strengthen the greaves and help avoid them folding where you don't want them to. Tape them on this side and flip those pieces over and throw some tape on the creases on the back side too. Roll the pieces with a tube, pipe, broomstick or some other kind of cylinder. Get them to a rough shape. You don't have to get the exact right greave shape. Just get a curve on those pieces. We will roll it again later, at each stage of the build.
