In this part of the tutorial we continue working on the dragonbone sword by gluing it together and painting it. part 1 of this tutorial is here
|
Glue part 1,2,3,4 right onto the main sword blade piece just like you see here. It is pretty easy to see how it goes because the handle and guard parts are a match.
Then glue on the two guard pieces, first the larger one then the smaller one. Now flip the sword over and glue the three pieces to the other side just as we did on this side. First the big piece then the two smaller guard pieces.
Ok, once the glue has set you should clean it up with a knife and sandpaper. Smooth out the seams where the various layers meet.
Let's Paint it!
First lets paint everything but the bone blade. And all of it is black. But don't use plain black. Mix some gray into it to soften it up and make it look more like forged iron.
Now use silver paint to accentuate the various edges on the handle and guard. Also accentuate the ring at the pommel.
Now use silver paint to add the bolts. There are four on this side of the sword and four on the other side of the sword. These are a nice detail. They are how the metal frame is attached to the dragon bone!
Then finish off the handle work with some details. I used a white pencil. Draw the four leaf pattern on the guard and add a few more bolts. And notice the half circles drawn around the bolt we had earlier painted on.
Ok! Let's finish this sword off by painting the dragon bone blade.
