In this part of the tutorial I show you how to paint the blade so it looks like metal.

Let's Paint the blade

Paint the whole blade black. Put on a nice thick layer and be sloppy with the brush strokes. The bigger the ridges of the brush strokes the better. We don't want a nice flat and clean layer of paint.

Now we are going to use a technique called dry-brushing. Get some silver paint on your brush then dab almost all of it off the brush.

Then lightly brush over the blade. The brush just lightly touches the blade as you quickly swipe back and forth. Small amounts of paint will deposit on high points of the blade.

Continue this process of getting paint on the brush, dabbing most of it off then brushing onto the blade as you need to. Get it to the look that you like.

Ok! It looks great.

Now let's work on the handle pieces. We are going to transfer the pattern to them.

Place the template on top of a handle piece, line it up and then trace all the lines with a blunted pencil. This causes marks in the foamboard.

Trace all the lines.

Now you can lift off the template and see the impressions of the lines. Draw them out. Now you have the pattern drawn out on the handle piece. Do this for both handles.

They look good.
