Make the Iron Sword from Skyrim

 

The Iron Sword is one of the most recognizable swords in Skyrim. In this tutorial I show you how to make one out of foam board or cardboard. And I show you a neat little technique for giving it that wonderful wrought iron look. I also have the template for you which makes it much easier for you to make.

Materials you will need for this project

  • 1 or 2 sheets of foamboard -depending on the size sheet you get
  • craft glue
  • Glue gun
  • Electrical tape
  • Heavy Gloss sealer
  • 4 sheets of card stock
  • Wire twine or shoelaces of two different sizes

Cut the pieces

Print out the template and cut out the various pieces. The template for this project is right here.

 

The blade template

Two of the template pieces make the blade section. Tape those two pieces together.

The handle pieces template

Two pieces make up the handle. Tape those two pieces together.

 

Trace all those template pieces onto foamboard. Follow the numbers in the template to know how many of each to make.

 

Ok! The template pieces look great. Go ahead and cut those pieces out.
