There is something so spectacular about castles. It is easy to understand but hard to describe. They have a majestic sense to them. Grand, strong and beautiful.

Maybe you can't own an actual castle but you can get a model of one.

Here I have a selection of model castles in a few different varieties including imagined castles and models of castles that actually exist. And they are in a variety of different medium from metal to paper.

I have here for you a wide selection of models from different companies. And the kits to make these castles come in a wonderful wide variety of materials. So you can get the type of model you want. These types include paper models, wooden ones, metal ones and cardboard. And there are a lot of different styles including cut and glue and puzzle types.

Aedes Ars Castle kits

Aedes Ars is a company located in Barcelona Spain. They make high end and quite unique models. Their kits cover a wide range of architectures and styles. And of course castles are a big part of their product line.

Their kits have a unique building style. You lay out cardboard templates, in the shapes of the castles then you lay in the ceramic bricks, one at a time. It makes for a very detailed castle.You actually build it stone by stone as they did with the actual castles.

Cubic Fun 3D

For the amazing way these models look I am very pleasantly surprised by the price. I have some skill with castles and with foam/paper puzzles so these are a snap and a lot of fun for me. They say for ages 8 and up but I think these are more for an older age group. Might be a bit much for young kids. Great looking replicas of famous structures.

Paper Nano

Paper Nano is a line of products designed by the Kawada company in Japan. It is a family of small paper models that are shadowbox or tatebanko style. The models are laser cut and very detailed. And they usually portray some kind of a famous building or structure. They also have a line of various interior rooms like kitchens or music rooms. Lot of fun and great looking little models.

Metal Earth

Metal Earth makes a very wide variety of small laser cut models that you put together. They have a lot of different models. And of couse they have castles. The Metal Earth models are amazingly detailed etched models that are fun and satisfying to assemble. Each model starts out as 4 inch square metal sheets and you simply pop out the pieces using wire cutters and follow the included directions to assemble your model.

Metal Earth 3D Laser Cut Model - Himeji Castle

Is also known as the White Heron Castle because of the way that its soaring white stucco walls resemble a graceful heron taking flight. The original fortress was built in 1346 and the castle in its current form was completed 1610. The castle is full of defensive features however it has never been attacked in its 400 year history. In 1993 it was designated a World Heritage Site.

Make this Medieval Castle by Usborne

This was the first paper castle I ever made. It was given to me as a gift and I have been hooked ever since.

Printed on stiff card, this book contains templates to cut out and construct a superb model of a 14th century castle crammed with authentic detail. The model includes miniature characters for re-creating castle life, including market stalls and jousting knights as well as a portcullis that lifts and falls.
