We made the pieces. Now let's build this powerful little catapult.

There are four pieces that are 3/4 inch by 2 inches in size. Glue them into two stacks of two. You end up with a stack of two, and a second stack of two.

Now glue together the two long skinny pieces. These are the catapult swing arm.

Now glue the side pieces directly down onto the top of the base like this.

Next glue the front piece on.

Glue on the two doubled-up pieces as you see here.

Let's make the little cup that goes on the end of the swing arm. It's the small piece with the dashed lines on it. There are three dashed lines. Cut on those lines, only cutting through the top layer of paper on the cardboard.

Now you can fold it into a square.

And glue it to one end of the swing arm (the long skinny piece).

Let's finish the catapult by mounting that swing arm into the catapult.

Pierce a toothpick through the catapult like this. Push it all the way through and through the other side. This is the pivot that the swing arm rotates on.

Now pierce a hole in the swing arm just below the cup. Cut a rubber band so it is just a length of rubber band and not a loop. Tie a knot in one end of that rubber band and feed it through the hole you pierced.

Pull back the toothpick an feed it through the swing arm bottom. Then push the toothpick back through.

Pierce a hole in the top of the catapult frame, feed the other end of the rubber band through the hole.

Now test the catapult, adjusting the rubber band until you get satisfactory tension and swing with the catapult. You will be able to get it moderately taut so it will be powerful. Once you get it the way you like it you can go ahead and knot it then glue it.
