Make a Cardboard Dollhouse Part 6: The interior

The exterior of the dollhouse is built. Now we will add the various internal parts including 8 rooms, 2 closets, 2 staircases and a bathroom.

The complete set of blueprints for this project including all the interior walls and floors is right here: Cardboard Dollhouse blueprints

I also have a video showing you all this at the bottom of the page.

Just as we did with the building of the external shell of this dollhouse most of these internal parts are doubled up layers of corrugated cardboard. This adds to the strength of the project. The closets and the stairways are all single layers. They don't bear any structural weight.

And... you can use my bluprints to make the inside of your dollhouse any way you want. You can customize it. There can be more or less rooms or a different floorplan.

Have fun with this project!

Let's start by adding the pieces into the back half of the dollhouse.

Page 4 of the blueprints shows you all the parts and where they go.

And this is what it will look like when we are done.

Let's get to building!

Cut 1/2 inch wide strips of cardboard and glue them to the inside of the dollhouse all the way around the inside and eight inches above the base. This is a support rail for the second floor. The top of the cardboard strip is placed right at that eight inch line.

Cut out the second floor. It is 24" x 8. Cut out two of them in alternating corrugated direction and glue them together.

And before gluing it onto those rails you put in you should test it. See if it fits smoothly and trim it as necessary. Once it is right glue it onto those rails.
