In this part of the tutorial we carve out the sword and the various pieces and assemble them together. Part 1 of this tutorial is here
|
Use a sharp knife and cut the sword out.
We added a little extra clay to the pommel just to beef it up a bit. Do this if you think it needs it.
Don't forget to pierce the hole in the pommel. It should go right through the hoop you made in the wire. This is where the necklace string will go.
Now we are going to make the center rib piece to go on the sword blade. In this picture it is the section in red.
So, lay out another thin piece of clay and press the template down into it with the graphite side down. And rub it a bit so the graphite transfers to the clay. You can see here the piece we will cut out.
Go ahead, cut that center rib out of the clay and attach it to the center of the sword just like this.
That center rib looks good. You can tweak it, cut it and shape it as you need to.
Now we do this process for the guard piece. You can see it here in red. That is all one piece.
And go ahead and press that on to the sword. Ok! Do any touch up work that you want. Clean it up a bit and get it to final shape. Then we will bake it in an oven or toaster oven.
Let's Continue with the tutorial
