Make the Skyrim Orcish Dagger - Part 3 Finishing it

In this part of the tutorial we finish the painting of the dagger and we add the handle details which include the wrapping and the fur.

Part 1 of this tutorial is here

The three colors

Here are the three colors we are going to use: Dark Gree, Silver and Black.

Use a kitchen sponge

And a kitchen sponge.

Dab on green

Dab on the dark green. Give it a nice spackled look.

Dab on silver

Then dab on silver. And focus more of the silver on the inner beveled edges of the dagger.

And finish off the painting with a small brush and some detail work. Here is how it looks.

Finish the detail paiting

Dry brushing it

Now finish it off with some dry-brushing. THis is the technique where you put some paint on the brush then dab most of it off onto a scrap of paper. Then lightly brush over the surface of the dagger. What happens is that only a light amount of paint is applied to the high points of the foam. We use silver paint for this.

NextLet's continue, and finish it by wrapping the handle

Sword makng and steel

Swordmaking: It's all about the steel

You have probably heard the term "high carbon steel". Are interested in knowing exactly what it means? And seeing as there is high carbon steel there is of course a low carbon steel. There is even one right between the two. In this tutorial I explain to you what that all means and how it affects sword making. And of course I have a video too.
