In this part of the tutorial we trace out the various pieces, cut them out and then form the shape of the blade. Part 1 of this tutorial is here

Place that template on your foamboard sheet and trace it. Then flip the template over and trace a second one. Next draw a line right down the center of those blades. We will use this line to form our blade bend. Next trace the remaining parts onto your sheet of foamboard (the handle and the pommel). And like you did with the blade, trace two of each piece, flipping the piece when making the second.
Now cut those pieces out. You end up with six pieces like this.
Will's Tips on Cutting Foam board: Don't try to cut all the way through it in one swipe. Use a really sharp blade and make three passes. the first pass just cuts the top layer of paper. Second pass cuts the foam and the third pass cuts through the bottom layer of foam.
Now let's form the shape of the blade. The triangulur shape that gives it depth and makes it look good.
Cut the top layer of paper on those centerlines you drew on the blades. You want to cut through the top layer of paper and some of the foam. You don't want to cut all the way through the foamboard.
Only cut as far as this point. No need to cut in the area where the handle is. This would weaken the handle of the sword.
Next draw two more lines down the length of each blade. One line to the left of that center line and one line to the right of that center line. They are about 1/4 inch away from that center line. And then Cut those lines too. Cut through the top layer of paper and some of the foam. Just as with the center line don't cut all the way through the foam board.
Now hold the knife at a 45 degree angle and cut through those left and right lines. You want to cut out a triangular notch down the length of the blade.
Then you can remove that slice of foam, leaving a V shaped notch down the center of the sword blades.
Ok, the notch is cut and it looks good.
Now flip the blade over and bend along that notch. It forms a nice crease on the outside of the blade. Do this on both blade pieces. Glue those two blades together. Keeping a little bit of a crease bend in each of them. Looks good. Next glue the tip closed and the handle closed.
Ok, next I will show you how to do the painting on this blade so it looks like metal.
Make the Saw Cleaver from Bloodborne This is an interesting and fairly easy project you can make with two sheets of foam board and a little paint. I give you the template! And it really works. You can open and close it! Make the Saw Cleaver from Bloodborne.
