In this part of the tutorial we made the lid of the box and add the triggering mechanism. We get it to work! Part 1 (the beginning) of this tutorial is here
|
To make the cover and trigger assembly we use parts 2, 12, 13, and 14.
There is a mark on part 12 (the trigger part). This is where the toothpick goes. Start this hole with a pin and then pierce it with a toothpick like this. Note that the trigger part will change for more effective work. I have modified this design a bit. I will show you more about this in a bit.
Now glue parts 13 and 14 directly down to part 3. They are on each side of the trigger slot.
Put the trigger in that slot. And mark lines where the toothpick is.
Now, right on those lines you drew. Pierce through 13 and 14 with a toothpick. This toothpick is the pivot that the trigger works on.
Remove the toothpick. Put the trigger in place then put the toothpick back in piercing through all three pieces like this.
If your trigger looks like this you have the old template. Draw a line on it like this and cut away the yellow section.
Okay! Let's put in the rubber band and make this blade assembly work (continue)
