In this part of the tutorial we finish off the dagger by assembling it and sealing it. |
If you haven't done it yet cut your handle. Use 1 inch pvc pipe, a dowel or broomstick that is about 1/1/4 in diameter. Cut the length to 5 1/2 inches in length. If you have big hands like me cut it to 6 inches in length.
Now glue that handle to your pommel. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the handle. My hot glue gun gets the glue very hot and sometimes that can melt the pink foam.
So, I apply the glue to the pvc pipe then let it cool for a few seconds before attaching it to the pommel and handle.
Now we seal it and strengthen it. This step is important. You can use either yellow wood glue or mod podge. Apply three coats and let it dry between coats.
Now paint the blade and the pommel black.
It looks good! Let's continue and work some painting magic on this to make it look orc-like
Make a Dragonbone Dagger This is a fun and easy project that you can do quickly and it looks great. I show you a neat technique for painting the blade to look like bone. And of course I give you the template. Make the dragonbone dagger. Make the Glass Dagger:
