Sculpt a Miniature Raver and Gegenhound - continued

This is part 2 of the tutorial on how to sculpt these two miniature figures. In this part of the tutorial we finish the scupting of the Raver. If you came directly to this page you can go to the beginning on page 1 right here

Next we can use tools to start sculpting the real shape of the miniature. The humanoid musculature tends to be easy to achieve because you can see in your minds eye the various muscle groups.

Use a toothpick to smooth the clay

With this figure he is mostly clothed so we don't have to spend a whole lot of time getting the musculature exactly right. The clothes cover a lot of it. But I do have to work on the arms and neck. I just sculpted out the body and muscles to be pretty good then I just added thin pieces of clay as the clothes. In this picture I am adding the shirt and with a toothpick I am flattening it.

Just as the wire armature helped us to get the feeling of action through the pose we can also use the clothes to do this. The shirt is open on the top and on the bottom. It adds tension and effect to the figure bowing his back.

The Raver

And there we go. The raver is complete. You can see the belt, shirt, hair, hands, boots and pants have all been completed. These were all pretty much a matter of adding small amounts of clay and sculpting it in.

The Raver and Gegenhound

And there we go. The raver is complete. The red shirt adds a little bit to the tension of his body.

Miniature Treasure Chest

How to Sculpt a miniature treasure chest. A treasure chest is a great first project to learn how to sculpt because it is very easy. You can get a good feel for the modelling putty. In this tutorial I sculpt three different chests and show you some techniques. I also use these chests as part of a Casting Miniatures tutorial. How to Sculpt a Miniature Treasure Chest

Miniature Dwarf

Tutorial: How to sculpt a miniature dwarf. A dwarf is a great first project because their body is easy to make. Their thick limbs and short size make them easy for beginner sculptors. See some pics and get some tips here: Sculpting a Miniature Dwarf
