Forge a steel sword quickly - Part 2

In this part of the tutorial we cut the tang of the sword and we do it all on the same hardy tool - the cut off tool.

Part 1 of this tutorial including video is here

Trim the tang width

Now we are going to cut the tang of the sword. This is the part where the handle will go. See how it is narrowere than the blade?

Trim the tang

We start this process of creating the tang by making two notches in the sword right where we want the tang to start. we do this on the cut off tool.

Continue trimming the tang

Now we use the cut off tool to cut the tang along the length of the sword on both sides left and right. Can you see how that will reduce the metal to the width of a tang?

Cutting the steel

Shape the tang

Now we do a little bit of work to clean up the tang and shape the end of it.
