A family member was in a thrift shop and ran across a whole bunch of issues of Military Modelling Magazine! These are in fantastic shape and they are from the 1970's.

Looking through these magazines I was amazed at how good they are. There is so much good stuff in these magazines.

There are a total of 33 issues in this group. 1976 is complete with all 12 issues. 1977 is complete, and there are 9 issues from 1978.

Looking through these magazines I was astonished by the depth a breadth of them. They are well written, well researched and varied in their materials.

There is all kinds of great stuff covering all aspects of military modeling ranging from ancient times to modern times. And all kinds of good tutorials ranging from accurately painting miniature equipment and soldiers to making terrain, trees, and dioramas.

And one thing that I was truly surprised by is that this magazine wasn't just about painting and building miniatures and dioramas. It was very serious about accuracy, and it was very focused on explaining military history. There is a lot of amazing stuff about realarmies, real battles, soldiers, weapons and more.

This magazine is a great combination of military history and military modelling.

And I really mean this magazine covers everything military modelling. Here is another sample article about a Medieval themed diorama (Medieval era stuff is my favorite)

I did a little bit of research about this magazine but couldn't turn up much. I did find a citation that said the magazine started in 1971 and closed up in 2018. That's almost 50 years of publication.
