WEEKEND LIBERTY.!! A Willy's Jeep Diorama

Here is a spectacular diorama of a Willy's Jeep made by Rodney. There is an incredible level of detail in this diorama and in particular the Jeep.

Rodney owns one of these in real life so this was a particularly fun project for him. You can see a pic of his jeep below. And he has made a youtube video of this diorama. You can see that at the bottom of this page. And he has a youtube channel. Check it out here: his youtube channel.

The diorama

Here is what he has to say about how he made this:

The base I used in this diarama was an old trophy I had hanging on the wall, cleaned it up then i applied a good coat of cellular clay ..I them got a wheel and made the indentations while still moist, plus putting in sign and rock and shrubs...waited until it fully dried then got a mixture of white glue and layered that over base except on the road tracks....then sprinkeled grass in a old pepper shaker...the big bushes are from a fish tank set[ grasses]...

The Jeep took me a month to do on and off..I spent countless hours on every step to make it as real as possible. As I i own one in real life..

The jeep didnt come with a hood so i got some cigarette foil ..rolled it up , measured it , then painted and glued it on...came up great I think..thick cotton for ropes on front and in the back..the radio is out of my trench diorama, I just added to it...scratch built from a old modem.

It's painted USA khaki. When I finishised building it I weather it everywhere and added clay underneath to match the road. I also added the name Bunny to it on the windscreen because I found some stickers of bunnys so 2 and 2 ...and it adds character....

WillA Note From Will: A couple of amazing things about this diorama. The tire tracks in the mud are just fantastic. And, if you didn't notice it the hood of the jeep was hand made out of foil. Looks real!

And here is a great tip on how Rodney made these flower details:

the reeds i made with the flowers ontop, are broom bristles , stuck them into the wet clay , then with a hairdryer very quickly apply heat 1 sec...to make ends wilt ...presto a flower , just paint.
